Who We Are
The 1885 Music Hall, listed on the National Register for Historic Places, is owned, operated, and loved by The Friends of the Mozartina Musical Arts Conservatory, Inc, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, cultural and educational organization established in 1979. Our mission is three-fold: 1) to present diverse and relevant programming in music, theater, dance, and film for the enrichment of the tri-state community;
2) to promote arts education through classes, partnerships, performing opportunities, and residencies; and
3) to preserve and restore the historic Music Hall so that it may continue to be a vibrant performing arts center and catalyst for sustainable economic development in our area.
The 843-seat theater is a cultural destination and one of the busiest theaters in the region, attracting over 100,000 people including 25,000 children on an annual basis from all over the tri state area. It is an economic engine, generating over $6 million for the local community through visitor-related spending, according to the Arts & Economic Prosperity Calculator. It also contributes over $60,000 of space to local nonprofit organizations such as The Random Farms Kids’ Theater, Rivertowns Dance Academy and Westchester Symphonic Winds every year.
The organization’s vision is to continue growing as a leading presenter of diverse and relevant programming in the performing arts for the enrichment of the tri-state community, promoting education through performances, classes, and residencies, partnering with local arts organizations, and strengthening the local economy. The Music Hall, once fully restored and renovated, will accommodate an increased variety and quantity of high-quality performances and be a showcase for green energy in a 19th-century building.
What We Do
Performances are usually announced on Mondays or Tuesdays and these shows become available for volunteer sign-up later in the week.
Stay Informed: Join the Music Hall’s mailing list so you are aware of upcoming events: www.tarrytownmusichall.org, then About Us, then Join Our Mailing List.
Sign Up: Email kpalmedo@tarrytownmusichall.org to sign up for shows.
Waiting List: If all of the positions are filled, you will be placed on the waiting list. We encourage you to sign up even though the performance is full as positions often open up. Please do NOT show up at the theater if you are on the waiting list.
Cancellations: We appreciate you letting us know if you cannot come as soon as possible so a person on the waiting list has the opportunity to volunteer.
“Gold Star” shows: You’ll see “GOLD STAR” next to a show. We sometimes have difficulty filling volunteer positions for dance recitals, repeat performances, etc and need extra help. Once you have accumulated five stars, you will have the opportunity to sign up for shows in advance of volunteers who have fewer than five stars.
